There are so many things to celebrate around this time of year and even into next year. Christmas is coming up and Hanukkah has already started on the sixth of December. New Years is also right around the corner, and Valentine’s day in February. There’s so many things to celebrate!


There are traditions in Cincinnati to celebrate the winter season; varying from ice skating in Fountain Square to caroling and carriage rides. On December 19, the annual Christmas show takes place at the Taft Theater. It features the singing group, Over the Rhine, who will create an acoustic Christmas. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online or at the door. You should consider it!


Another tradition here in Cincinnati is the showing of The Nutcracker at the Aronoff Center. It’s a classic Christmas story filled with amazing choreography and a great story. Another classic Christmas story is the Christmas Carol; it’s a story that teaches the true meaning of Christmas. It’s held at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. Not to mention the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo. It creates a wonderful Christmas atmosphere for everyone. Freshman Kayla Combs says, “I really enjoy the Festival of Lights! It’s a fun experience that puts you in the Christmas spirit.”

All tickets are fairly cheap and can also be purchased online.


New Years is shortly after Christmas and many people gather with some friends or family to watch the ball drop to start the new year. Many bands will be playing and radio stations will be hosting parties for everyone to come to and enjoy. In February, Valentine’s Day is a great way to show your love for the important people in your life. You don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend to enjoy the cute day. All the candy goes on sale too! BB Riverboats takes reservations on this day for couples to enjoy the river and a great dinner.
