Saturday March 12 at 8:00 pm is a time for everyone to shake off the winter and dance their way into the spring season.

The Spring Fling dance started last year, but it is most commonly referred to as the Sadie Hawkins dance, where girls ask guys to be their date instead of the usual guys-ask-girls expectation.

But besides just having fun, the goal of the Spring Fling is to raise money for the class of 2017’s senior prom.

I know that I was hesitant to go to the dance last year, but I went with a group of friends and it was a blast. It is not a full-pressure situation like Prom and Homecoming because the majority of the students went without a date.

As well as the awesome DJ that will be in charge of the music, Turpin’s own Wicked River will be performing during the dance.

Junior Megan Watters said, “I think it’s exciting for underclassmen mostly, but still a good experience to look back on in the future. I think it’s worth the money because some people may not be able to afford the expenses of prom. Either way, it seems pretty fun.”

Going to the dance only helps fund the future prom which may be your class’s, if you’re a junior or underclassmen so why wouldn’t you go?

As a girl, I love getting dolled up and this is an easy way to get a bunch of your friends, take some pictures, go out to eat and have a fun night.
